I've been lucky enough to go to many friendly places but in my experience the three that really stand out are Costa Rica, Singapore and Penang.

Found Bristol very friendly, this last weekend I was invited to assist in a bit of city centre renovation, dragged a mucky old statue down and chucked it into an old dock, the good old friendly police didn’t say FA, in fact I got the impression they encouraged us. Promised to return in the near future and expressed an interest in repainting the council offices.

I found Kinsale to be a very friendly place. Although that was back in the late 90s so fuck knows what it's like now.

bruuuno, yep, absolutely.
It's like the town where time stood still and I like that.
You know of from the southwest, but moved from Exeter to Bristol over 25 years back. Living in the southwest just across the bridge, you grow up hearing about how Newport is always dodgy in the pubs and clubs with a bit of a reputation - and then you first drink over there you think about the Welsh vs English thing. Been over there a few times drinking with mates as a change from Bristol or Bath.
Genuinely think it's a really friendly place, end up chatting to the locals and having a laugh. Not just the pubs, just in general.

I do find the welsh to be pretty friendly overall. Don’t think I’ve met a pretentious Welshman

Bali and Oman.
A lot of these places, like Japan and Thailand, I would consider very polite, but not necessarily friendly. The Japanese aren’t really outgoing enough to be considered ‘friendly’ and the Thais strike me as more ritualistically polite.
The Balinese, and maybe to a certain extent, other Indonesians, genuinely seem to love other people, and Omanis are some of the most relaxed people in the world, who seem to be willing to do anything for you if you look like you need help.

Germans are a great bunch and they love us Brits, though they do see us as a little odd. LOL.
